Why not get cash for silver

I have always wondered why people keep expensive things at home. They might not need them at all, but for some reasons they have never decided to sell them. If they have, they would have earned a lot of money, but if seems that they don"t need it or that they"re simply used to having these objects at home. Or perhaps they don"t want to sell those things because they believe that their possessions will become even more valuable in the future. Maybe they will get much more cash for silver or gold if they decide to sell them later on. Anyway, if they were keeping all those valuables just for investment purposes, they would never boast of them so much. For example, I know a family who owns a set of silver chandeliers. They don"t keep the chandeliers hidden somewhere deep in the wardrobe. If I were them, I would rather buy some cheaper lamps and hang them under the ceiling, but they have decided to boast of their valuable silver chandeliers. I guess these chandelliers are very expensive and those people might get a lot of cash for silver, but they simply seem to like the items too much. But what if one day somebody breaks into their house and steals the valuable objects? Unfortunately, they"re risking at lot by showing how wealthy they are to anyone who visits them.
